What a race! What a success for our Soldier Hollow! Two fillies by Soldier Hollow delivered a thrilling head-to-head finish to the wire for the crown of Germany’s best two-year-old filly 2016. In the end, Roettgen studs WELL SPOKEN (M. Klug), ridden by Adrie de Vries, had managed a head advantage at the wire over David and Hans-Peter Schön’s PEMINA (J. Hirschberger) with Alexander Pietsch in the saddle. Both fillies, however, showed fantastic performances leaving the rest of the eclectic field four lengths behind in this Gr.3 Preis der Winterkönigin (€105,000), Germany’s most prestigeous reace for two-year-old fillies. Thus, Well Spoken, bred by Roettgen out of the Bertrando-mare Well American, had crowned herself Champion-2YO 2016 and followed into the footsteps of our Dhaba, who won the race last year.
The result of this race comes as the highlight of a tremendously successful weekend for our sire. First, Dia Del Sol’s win in the Ferdinand Leisten-Memorial, then Dschingis Secret’s incredible run in the St. Leger Italiano, and now two fillies, who make headlines in the champion race for two-year-olds.
