He's back! Following an unfortunate fifth place at Baden-Baden last month, Wiedingen-bred DSCHINGIS SECRET delivered a scintillating performance at Hamburg today and cemented his position among Germany's top stayers! The four-year-old colt by Soldier Hollow and our great mare DIVYA dominated the small, yet exquisite field in the $70,000 G2 Grosser Hansa-Preis and beat no other than Horse of The Year 2016, Iquitos (A. Starke/H.J. Gröschel), to second place.
One year ago at the very same place, he finished third in the German Derby, and today the Markus Klug-trained colt found "his ground" once again. With Martin Seidl aboard, Dschingis Secret cruised along, always prominently positioned with the pace maker Guignol, and ignited his turbo around the final turn to wave the rest of the field good-bye. After 2400 m, the pair had put nearly four lengths between themselves and the rest, though Martin Seidl had eased the colt even before the wire. A fantastic third place finish by NEPAL made it all perfect for our champion sire Soldier Hollow, as the filly, who won the Italian Oaks last year, is his first granddaugther to ever hit the track.
