Elektrowelt24.de Stables' SON MACIA ran the race of her life in the 55th running of the Preis von Europa, Germany's top G1 race offering €155,000 in prize money.
The four-year-old filly, who has been equipped with blinkers by her new trainer Andreas Suborics, broke well under Gregory Benoist and settled close to the pace, where she had an ideal spot to tackle the final 600 meters of the deep stretch at Cologne racetrack. While she was unable to keep the domineering winner Windstoß in check, the filly gutted out an amazing finish with the third-placed of the Große Preis von Baden, Colomano, and passed the wire a head before the colt. This was Son Macia's first attempt at the highest stakes level after finishing an amazing third in the G2 Italian Oaks and wining at G3-level last year. |
