What a success for our champion sire SOLDIER HOLLOW! His progeny dominated the scene and even generated the trifecta in today's G3 100 Jahre Hugo Phohe-Rennen at Hamburg racecourse.
AXANA (Team Valor/Andreas Wöhler) had entered the $55,000 mile challenge for fillies and mares as the favorite and the recently G2-placed and for the German Oaks-nominated filly did not disappoint. Eduardo Pedroza took AXANA slightly off the pace but in stalking position to the lead from where she drew clear in the stretch with powerful speed and secured a confident win by one length and a half advantage. Following were Team Valors second starter MADITA (Sascha Smrczek) with Bauyrzhan Murzabayev aboard and Stall Lucky Owners SHALONA (Henk Grewe) with Lukas Delozier in the saddle. The two SOLDIER HOLLOW-daughters duelled brilliantly with the latter sticking her neck in front, also given a 4 kg advantage over the older opponent.
SOLDIER HOLLOW's female progeny have shone with consistently great performances this year but this result certainly marks the icing on the care thus far, a result you don't see every day in this profession. |
