Virginia Joy's Group III success in the U.S. on Saturday night (we reported) also provided another milestone for top sire Soldier Hollow.

(Her) victory in The Very One Stakes at Gulfstream Park marked the first Group III win by a Soldier Hollow progeny in the USA.

Bred by Auenquelle Stud, the five-year-old mare's victory in the 2200m challenge ensured that the three-time champion stallion now has Black Type winners in eight different countries. In Germany, the 22-year-old, who is owned by Helmut von Finck's Park Wiedingen Stud, is already one of the top sires with numerous Group and List winners, but Soldier Hollow offspring have also won Black Type races in France, Great Britain, Australia, Italy, Norway and Ireland (over fences).

The U.S. success of Virginia Joy, a group winner in Germany who took the Mehl-Mülhens-Rennen in Hamburg in 2020, now adds another country to the list.
